What are the interior design trends for autumn 2024?

A big decoration trend for 2024 are natural, earthy spaces close to nature. Whether working as an interior decorator for private clients or renovating the Victorian Essex terrace he lives on (working as hard as possible), you'll find that Hugh has a great fondness for luxurious minimalism, abstract shapes and everything related to beige. It's an idea that Kristen Peña, founder of K Interiors, based in San Francisco, has introduced in projects such as this house in the Napa Valley. But, unless you spend every day seeing beautiful homes and the work of new designers like me (it's hard work, but someone has to do it), it can be hard to get an idea of what's happening in design right now, which is where we come in.

Sustainability has transcended trends to become a broader objective for the design industry, in an effort to significantly reduce negative environmental impacts and, at the same time, improve the well-being and spaces of those who adopt it. Anna Fixsen, Deputy Digital Editor of ELLE DECOR, focuses on how to share the best of the design world through detailed reporting and online storytelling. For Lauren Moore, of Design Assembly LA, this shape helps to better root a curved sofa and separate it from the wall, which is also useful when it's in the center of the room. This list of interior design trends reflects the ideas that Livingetc editors are passionate about right now.

For Milan Design Week, the company announced that it will reissue two designs from the time, including the Klippan sofa and the Poäng armchair, both 80s designs by Japanese designer Noboru Nakamura. Already in the history of furniture design, in 1948, when the architect and designer Eero Saarinen upholstered his iconic Womb chair in bouclé, the fabric with a cloudy texture has demonstrated its staying power. Modern ideas for wall murals may have peaked in popularity a few years ago, but now designers are opting for traditional, heritage-inspired designs that cover every wall in a room. Helena Madden is the market editor of ELLE DECOR and covers everything related to products and trends, from cutlery and furniture to kitchens and bathrooms.

The designers of these dressing tables made big changes with the choice of wallpaper for small spaces but with a lot of personality. That mantra was most evident at Poltrona Frau, which presented a new and exciting collection designed by the revered British designer Faye Toogood. The subtle sophistication of materials mixed in a room conveys a serene interior, which tends to be more attractive than it appears to have been designed. Of course, trends, as is their nature, reach a point of saturation, at which point some other way of decorating can usurp them in the spirit of the design era.

As if those qualities weren't enough, it's also a precious material and designers are going crazy for it.
